Sunny Okanogan Angus was founded in 1961 by Lou and Elda Vejraska.  They enjoyed many years watching the Angus Breed grow and develop, instilling in their Son, Grandsons and Great Grand Daughters a pride in the product and animals we produce.  Our family comes together for just about every aspect of Ranch Life.  From Calving to Branding, on to the farming and then weaning, everyone works hard to make this family operation a successful business and a wonderful lifestyle.

In the early 1960’s Sunny Okanogan Ranch was born with the first purchase of a few Angus Cattle. Lou dedicated his spare time to building a strong Angus herd. While being a full time dentist he enjoyed spending any extra hours at the ranch and in the mountains.

Over the next 40 year Lou along with his son Craig and grandson’s Todd and Scott sold bulls on a private treaty basis. The bull crop was always well received with many return buyers as the years went on. The family kept up with the changes in Sire Preferences. We have always put large stock in our Cow families, believing they are a big part of the Herd’s foundation.

In 2000 our family moved from selling Bulls on a private treaty basis into the Bull Sale environment.  Prior to 2000, we sold Registered Angus Bulls for 40 years at private treaty and have enjoyed seeing many of our customers return each year to our Bull Sale.  The years have flown by, so much so that we now see the second and third generation of Bull Buyers in the bleacher seats on sale day.

Sunny Okanogan Angus is devoted to our community.  Each year we are active in our Okanogan County Fair Livestock Sale, as well as Ferry County and Douglas County Fair Livestock Sales.  Over the years we have helped to support over 70 kids in their Fair endeavors. Our family is also active in many volunteer organizations helping to continue our rural lifestyle.

In 2009 we began hosting a Judging Competition for Washington State Youth.  Most participants are FFA members who attend from around the state.  The prizes are sponsored and awarded by Cattle Producers of Washington. In 2018 we hosted over 150 students from around Washington State, treating them to lunch and setting up the judging competition.

Our Annual Bull sale is held each March at the Okanogan Livestock Market on the second Thursday.  We offer a great lunch to all our friends.  Following lunch is a full sale of reliable, stout and genetically proven Bulls.  Hope to see you all on Sale Day~
